One of the most progressive faculties at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP), Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), is currently preparing to undertake another international program. After the exchange of student and staffs and joint conference and research successfully done with several universities abroad, the faculty initiated to run credit earning program in collaboration with Angeles University Foundation (AUF), Philippines. FIKES UMP proposes to do the program in the Nursing S1 Department.
To discuss further about the collaboration, two delegates of UMP, Dr. Jebul Suroso (Vice Rector for Development and Partnership Affairs) and Santhy Hawanti, Ph.D. (Director of International Affairs Office) had a visit to AUF, Philippines on November 15, 2016. The representatives from AUF were Mr. Archimedes (Vice Rector 1), Zenaida. S. Fernandez, R.N,. Ph.D. (Dean of College of Nursing AUF) and assistants of the dean.
In addition, the agenda included the signing of Memorandum of Agreement and the discussion regarding the credit earning program to run by College of Nursing of AUF and Nursing S1 Department of UMP. Both parties have agreed on the courses to be included in the credit earning program. Dr. Jebul believes this program is able to boost the internationalization of the faculty, particularly the Nursing S1 department of UMP. (iao-Nov)

Until present, UMP has been in agreement with a number of international institutions to boost its internationalization. In 2016, UMP has made agreements with several international universities, two of which are National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and The National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences (NTUNHS), Taiwan.
The event when Dr. H. Syamsuhadi Irsyad, MH., the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP), received an honor for the category of inspiring figure and financial institution from Financial Services Authority (FSA) given directly by Joko Widodo, the President of Republic of Indonesia became the first outstanding record of UMP at the beginning of the year. The Rector accepted the honor on behalf of his university which supports to establish the habit of savings and financial product investment.
This Friday Morning, December 30, 2016, Hyu Si Jin, a Korean housewife living in Purwokerto, went to Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) to study Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia). She is a student of BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia for Non-Native Speakers) Program UMP. Jin has lived in Purwokerto for four months with her husband who works in a Korean-owned company in Purbalingga and has been in the city 9 years earlier than his wife.
Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing (BIPA) Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) was officially established in 2014. Since then, the program has developed very rapidly due to the support from the university. Up to now, BIPA Program UMP has 18 lecturers who are all certified and competent.
Novi Haryanti, M.Pd., one of BIPA lecturers of UMP, is currently teaching Bahasa Indonesia in Santichon Islamic School, Bangkok, Thailand. She was assigned by the Center of Strategy and Language Diplomacy Development of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republic of Indonesia. Novi has been teaching in the school since the middle of this year.
BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia for the Speaker of Other Languages) Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) shows its existence to the world. Last year, Santhy Hawanti, Ph.D., the Director of International Affairs Office, taught Bahasa Indonesia at Sofia University, Bulgaria through the SAME (Scheme for Academic Mobility and Exchange) BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing) Program from Kemenristek Dikti (the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education) of Republic of Indonesia.
With its international vision, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (FKIP UMP) plans to conduct international Teaching Practice Program (TPP). The program facilitated by International Affairs Office of UMP (IAO UMP) will involve all students of FKIP UMP who are then selected to be 16 persons to go to Malaysia in February 2017. The international TPP will run for a month.
Faculty of Health Science at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (FIKES UMP) invited Prof. Dr. Khanitta Nuntaboot, the Dean of Faculty of Nursing of Khon Kaen University of Thailand last Saturday (3/12). Drs. Ikhsan Mujahid, M.Si., the Dean of FIKES UMP, said this guest lecture was conducted to provide broader description regarding the health services from different perspective. Ikhsan hopes the students of FIKES UMP have more comprehensive international insights about the recent development of the health services.
BIPA Program (Bahasa Indonesia for non-native speakers) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) is getting more advanced in less than 4 years. It is proven by the increase of foreign students taking this course. The head of International Affairs Office, Santhy Hawanti, Ph.D., said that since established in 2012 BIPA has received positive responses from society. It is reported that more than 50 participants have joined the language program. “They come from USA, Netherland, New Zealand, Morocco, Bulgaria, Korea, China, and Thailand,” Mrs. Santhy said.
The internationalization of UMP develops rapidly in any aspects. Recently, two graduates of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP), Mujiono and Wahyu Kusuma Putra, accompanied by the Vice Rector IV of UMP Dr. Ns. Jebul Suroso, M.Kep and the Head of International Affairs Office Santhy Hawanti, Ph.D went to Thailand to become English teachers in Buranakarn Suksa Witya School, Pattani, on Tuesday (25/10). It is a follow up of the previous cooperation between the school and UMP. Sinta and Isti, also the alumni of UMP, are the predecessors teaching in the same school for 6 months.
