ERASMUS+: Lecturer of UMP Teaches at Sofia Univesity Bulgaria under Erasmus+ Program

Condro Nur Alim PhD, a lecturer of Department of English Literature at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP), received grant from Erasmus+ Key Action 1 for Mobility of Student and Staff. He was teaching at Department of Asian Studies at Sofia University for 10 days from 11 to 22 January 2020 fully funded by Erasmus+. This activity is an implementation of partnership between UMP and Sofia University under the Erasmus+ Programme.

Director of International Affairs Office UMP, Santhy Hawanti PhD explained that the Erasmus+ is a prestigious program by European Union for implementing partnership between higher education institutions in Europe with higher education in Partner Country such as Indonesia. She added that there are only 60 out of 4000 higher education institutions in Indonesia already participating in the Erasmus+ programme including UMP.

“It is a very prestigious program. In Indonesia there are only 60 Higher Education institutions having been in collaboration with European institutions under Erasmus+, and UMP is one of them. Even, only five (5) Muhammadiyah universities in Indonesia have already participated in this program,” said Santhy.

At Sofia University, Condro was not only teaching courses related to his expertise but also all about Indonesia. (nov)
