Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) once again sent two of its best students to Brunei Darussalam to experience international activities through Credit Transfer Program for one semester at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). The program has been running for two years as UMP has been in good collaboration with UBD. In this academic year, the program starts from 26 December 2019 to 15 May 2020.
The two students sent to UBD are Yuda Prastawan from the Department of Agrotechnology and Deni Eliawati from the Department of English Education. They are chosen after a series of selection organized by their departments under certain criteria such as minimum GPA and English Proficiency.
Dr. Anwar Ma’ruf, the Vice Rector IV of UMP, supports the implementation of this program since it will benefit both UMP and the students. “I appreciate all parties who manage to make this credit transfer program happen. I believe the students will get priceless experience during the program and will be more open-minded as they will keep in touch with other international students from other countries there.” said Anwar.
In addition, the Director of International Affairs Office (IAO), Santhy Hawanti PhD said that this is a special program for UMP as not many of higher educations in Indonesia get the chance to send their students to UBD for free. “It is a privilege for UMP to send our students to study at UBD for one semester with tuition waiver. My friends from other universities in Indonesia told me that they sent students to UBD on the same program with full charge of the tuition fee.” Santhy Said.
At UBD, Deni will study at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Yuda will join the courses at the Faculty of Integrated Technology. (Nov)
